I'm a retired attorney and lifelong spiritual seeker, and SURRENDER is my debut novel.

Born in 1945 and raised in Brooklyn, New York, I pursued my passion for law at New York Law School where I was an editor of The Law Review before embarking on a distinguished career as a criminal defense trial lawyer in New York. From 1973-1975, I was in charge of the Bronx Criminal Defense Office of the New York Legal Aid Society where I supervised 55 lawyers and a thirty-person support staff. I have a son, Adam, with my first wife, Penelope, and Adam and his wife are both attorneys in Washington, DC. 

In 1981, I relocated to the scenic Berkshires, where I established a private practice specializing in real estate and zoning. I later became the senior partner at the largest law firm in Great Barrington, Massachusetts.

Around this time, I met the love of my life, Paula Lee, who served as the director of our synagogue’s religious school for 17 years. We married in 1986, and together, we built a life steeped in spirituality and community. For over five decades, I maintained a disciplined practice of meditation and yoga, complemented by participation in Native American drumming and dancing ceremonies and including a ten-day vision quest, and being a leader of men’s groups for 20 years.

In 2015, I retired to Singer Island, Florida, where I continue my spiritual journey as well as being an active volunteer in my coastal community. As my beloved wife Paula began to experience advanced Alzheimer’s and moved into a memory care facility, I turned to writing to cope with the heartache of her decline. In 2021, I began crafting this novel as a heartfelt tribute to our enduring love story.
